Welcome back, legends, Episode 5 picks up right where we left off. Things are getting darker, the secrets are peeling back, and Amara's bloodline is becoming the center of everything. Ready? Let's dive in.
The lights flickered once, twice—then died completely.
Amara's room drowned in blackness, the only glow coming from her phone screen. She backed into a corner, heart hammering like a drum in her chest.
Outside, the shadow didn't move. It stood still, its hand pressed against the glass, waiting.
Then—tap, tap. A slow, deliberate knock on her balcony door.
Amara's phone buzzed again.
Unknown Number: "You can't run from your own blood. Let me in."
Her breath came in ragged gasps. She wanted to scream, but her voice refused to leave her throat.
Suddenly, her phone rang. Mum again.
"Amara—are you safe?" her mum's voice cracked with desperation.
"No!" Amara cried. "He's here, Mum! On the balcony—he's watching me!"
Her mother's silence was heavy, suffocating. Finally, she whispered: "Then it's begun."
"What do you mean? What's begun?!"
Her mother's words shook like brittle glass. "The binding... the blood oath. Amara, when you were born, I—"
The line cut off.
Amara's phone went dead. Battery drained.
"No, no, no," she whimpered, shaking it.
The shadow outside moved. Slowly. Purposefully. The balcony glass trembled again, a thin crack snaking across it.
Amara clutched the nearest thing she could—a lamp—and held it tight like a weapon.
Then—BOOM!
Lightning struck outside, lighting the balcony in a flash of white. For the first time, she saw his face.
Tall. Sharp eyes that glowed faintly in the storm. Rain dripping from his hair. A presence that didn't feel human.
Her body froze. Every warning her mum had given her screamed in her ears: Don't look into his eyes.
But she already had.
And in that instant, something inside her shifted. A heat surged through her veins. Her vision blurred, her breath shallow. It was like her blood itself was answering him.
Through the glass, Kene's lips curved into a faint, knowing smile.
"You feel it now, don't you?" he whispered, though the glass should've muted his voice. Somehow, she heard him as if he were right beside her.
Amara stumbled back, clutching her chest. "What... what's happening to me?"
The room spun. Her knees gave way. The last thing she saw before the darkness swallowed her was Kene's glowing eyes... and the glass door shattering into pieces.
Amara's scream never left her lips.
Because by the time she opened her eyes again... she was no longer in her room.
